Residencies of Impermanence (2026)

Residencies of Impermanence is a film and spatial installation by LionHeart exploring home, memory and the emotional consequences of impermanence.

Developed through a poet-in-residence practice across Sharjah and London, the work considers what happens to our relationship with architecture when permanence can no longer be assumed, and how what survives loss continues to shape the spaces we inhabit, remember and build thereafter.

Working between poetry, film, performance and intimate conversations, the artist approaches architecture through a form of poetic cross-examination. Memory, intimacy and testimony become forms of architectural knowledge: ways of making visible the lived and emotional dimensions of space that conventional architectural language does not always record. The film positions the poet as both witness and provocateur, using language and metaphor to read not only what architecture contains, but what it leaves within us. The concept of home, continuously under alternative analysis.

Presented for the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, Residencies of Impermanence proposes poetry as a form of civic and spatial inquiry, a means of attending to the consequences of architecture through intimate language, memory and lived experience. Rather than attempting to resolve impermanence, the work asks what architecture can hold, what it cannot, and what might nevertheless remain when its promises of shelter, endurance and protection are placed under pressure.

Commissioned by the Sharjah Architecture Triennial for SAT03, Architecture Otherwise.
